ABOUT US -
Pimientos de
Padrón, are delicious heirloom peppers hailing
from the
Galician town of
Padrón, in north western Spain. In
Galicia and
throughout Spain,
these peppers are served as a tasty tapa.
They are
simply pan fried
in olive oil and sprinkled with coarse salt.
That's
all there is to
it. This simple tapa is so delicious
that once you try
these peppers you
will be hooked. Pimientos de Padrón have a taste all
their own. Nine
out of ten peppers are sweet but that last one can be
hot or picante.
For this reason eating pimientos de padron is sometimes
described as
playing Spanish Roulette.
Here at Galizia Farms, my husband and I have
been growing these tasty
peppers since
2008. On our summer trips to visit
family in spain, we
would make our
way to Padrón to have our fill of Pimientos.
We enjoyed
them so much and
we that wished we could have them all summer long at
home in the
states. That's when my husband had the
idea of growing them
ourselves. It took several years of trial and error but
in 2011 we had
first crop. As we shared the peppers with our friends and
neighbors,
they were such a
hit that we introduced them to local restaurants.
Recently we expanded into New York City area and we have
a Michelin
Star restaurant
as a loyal customer.
We love these
peppers and we know you will, too. If
you have had them
before, you know
how good they are, and if you are just curious, try a
pound! From our Farm we bring you authentic
Pimientos de Padrón! Buen
provecho! Enjoy!
